Holy Moly, that’s all I have to say.
I am going to make this short and sweet because I have to go right back to working.
It will be a miracle if I finish this in time!
Let’s take it day by day since the last updated post…….
Wednesday we ripped up the old granite tile counters. The came up surprisingly easy.
I also had to empty the contents of all the cupboards which made my dining room look like an episode of hoarders.
Somewhere in there I got the crazy idea that I needed to plant my window boxes.
Thursday I sanded the rough drywall edges smooth where the new back splash will go, as well as in the nook area. I sanded and painted the skylight area that had the bad patch job.
Then I painted all the trim work in the kitchen a bright white.
Oh, we also made a pipe contraption to hold 2 pendant lights above the island!
Friday the marble installers came.
I sat at my island and painted custom sign orders while they installed it.
Love, love, love it!
Why did I not do this sooner?
That is the good news.
The bad news is that my newly painted Annie Sloan Old White cabinets looked just that~OLD!
Old, dirty, and dingy next to the new marble.
So, I made the decision to RE PAINT all the cabinets in Ben Moore Dove White and I am so happy with it! Although, I might die if I have to paint anything again.
{pic. below shows the original yellowy color on the drawer fronts and the dove white is on the doors}
I spent the entire day Saturday from 6 am to 9 pm sanding, priming, and painting.
Sunday I painted the island the same green as the pantry doors.
{still wet in this photo}
Monday I had to wash all the dishes before putting them back in the cupboards because they had gotten so dusty from the construction. I think I must have washed 12 loads. Thank goodness for a dishwasher!
Tuesday I painted our bar stools.
Here is a before and after:
I primed them with spray primer and then painted them with 3 coats of Dove White.
Luckily it was a sunny day and we also have a television outside, so I watched episode after episode of Investment Properties.
The wallpaper also got installed in the nook!
I LOVE it!
Any suggestions for shelving?
I still have a ton to do.
I sure wish I could get an extension…..
Ha, yeah right.
Keep your fingers crossed that I finish by next Wednesday!

I can't believe that you painted your cabinets…twice! You have been BUSY this week! Too bad you already had a vacation recently, you're going to need another one when this is over! 🙂
Abby M. Interiors says
My heart is exhausted for you, but so happy that you painted the cabinets again. You might as well do it now before you spend years annoyed with the color. IT LOOKS GORGEOUS! I vote for glass shelves. I want to see as much of the stunning paper as possible. Good luck! You've got this!
Andrea says
Chenonceau? Only my favorite paper ever! Looking great! I vote glass shelves also

Love the cabinets in White Dove. The piping for your lights is terrific – hope you'll do a separate post on that. I'm with Christine and think glass shelves would be great w/the wallpaper.

Oh my word! That is huge progress! And thank you for making us granite countertop people feel less guilty about wanting to remove it. I've been dying for marble just like you put in but can't justify ripping out good granite. I'm being swayed!
Shannon says
Wow, what a contrast between the two paint colors on the cabinets! Will you share the resources all during the reveal?
Debra says
Everything looks awesome! I love the new pain color (BM Dove White) on the cabinets! Good luck to have it all done by Wed. 🙂

Love it all! And great work on the pipe thingy. I would also say glass shelves. Also, wondering how old your cabinets are? I've been considering changing my countertops but not sure if its wise on cabinets that are older. How did you decide?
Great work!
Unknown says
Oh my goodness… you are a glutton for punishment! Insane but so worth it!!!
Erica M. says
Good idea on repainting the cabinets! They look much fresher and brighter.

Your kitchen looks amazing. Can't wait to see the final results. Really loving the pendant light above the island and the nook wallpaper is fantastic. Always loved that print. Seems like the consensus is for glass shelves but I think a rustic wood shelf would look great as well. Nothing chunky, b/c you don't want to take away from the gorgeous wallpaper but I think the juxtaposition of the wallpaper and rustic wood would look really good. Whatever you do I'm sure will look awesome.
Unknown says
It looks amazing and am impressed by all of your painting. Glass shelves for sure in your nook to show off that gorgeous paper. BTW — make sure you get the glass (tempered? another process?) that gives the shelves a clear edge rather than the greenish/blue edge of regular cut glass. If you ask the installer, they'll be able to explain better what I'm trying (and failing miserably) to explain.
Beth of designPOST Interiors says
Good call on the paint even though you are a rock star for having the motivation to paint that much! And I love that pendant contraption!
Kim @ Savvy Southern Style says
Wow, you are one busy beaver. Made me tired just reading it all. I'm painting one room and am tired of it. Can't wait to see the reveal.
Unknown says
Everything looks amazing! You are so talented! I am about to paint my kitchen cabinets, and I have about a million of them, so I want to do it right the first time. Did you use trim paint, regular wall paint, or something else? I see that the primer is water based, so I'm guessing the paint is also water based latex… ALL advice would be appreciated!
Jessie says
Everything looks so good! The lighting, the marble countertop, the wallpaper and the newly painted cabinets look really good together!

I love the white with the marble. The stools also look fantastic. I love to do projects while the television is on. The wallpaper is amazing, and glass shelves are my vote, too. Good luck.
Carol@6WilsonBlog.com says
Oh Melaine!! I'm so sorry for all of that! I can't imagine painting that all over again. But, if you love it, it's worth it (easy to say I know!) The ORC can definitely push a person to the limits! Good luck this week.
Tiffany says
You've done so much work, but it looks amazing! Can't wait to see it finished.

You are amazing to get this much done! I am inspired to tackle a few projects I have been procrastinating on.
Love everything you have done and cannot wait until you have time to go more in detail about the various elements in the room.

Love!!!! I would use clear glass shelves so as to not cover up that beautiful wallpaper!
