A new year brings new hope with a clean slate and fresh beginnings.
There’s something so satisfying about a blank slate after the holiday decor has been taken down.
It is a great time to incorporate new elements into your home that you have been wanting to do, but also a great time to clear unnecessary clutter.
I feel like I am constantly reorganizing and clearing out clutter even though I don’t feel like we have a ton of stuff in our home.
My new years resolution is to only bring in new items to our home intentionally.
This means not buying something just because I like it.
I need to think if I have a spot for it and if it serves a purpose.
Not buying something just because it is on sale.
Our home isn’t large and we have lived here long enough that I know what I like and don’t like, how rooms function best. etc.
I shared this home below on my Instagram and while it may look stark to some, I found it very warm and inviting.
Notice the lack of clutter.
Notice the very simple neutral color palette.
Notice the mix of vintage rustic elements with very modern clean lines.
I was just really drawn to everything about it and thought I’d share it with you all for a bit of inspiration.
There’s not a lot of fuss or frills.
It looks like it would be very easy to keep clean doesn’t it?
THE BEDROOM
I love the rustic wood wall in this bedroom followed by the simple floating shelves as nightstands.
The bedding is cozy yet simple.
It is all about texture in this room.
Fuzzy wool pillows, a linen duvet, shiny metal sconce on a rustic wood wall.
FAMILY ROOM
In this sitting area, possibly the family room, I was really drawn to these trunk coffee tables.
They are not only very stylish, but they also serve as a great place to store blankets, books, magazines, etc.
The nubby jute rug is a great contrast to all the black.
Keeping the walls white and paired with dark furniture gives this room a masculine feel.
LIVING ROOM
This might just be my favorite room in the home.
That fireplace is stunning with its clean lines.
If you have a massive space you need to fill without a lot of stuff, try using 2 of the same coffee tables side by side like they did here.
The massive bowl on the coffee table is one I would love myself.
Stay tuned because in the near future I am going to try to DIY one.
The stump table pulls out the wood tones of that incredible ceiling, as well as the other wood elements in the room.
Notice the cozy textures in the blanket, the woven texture in the basket and the simple white coffee table books.
The tone on tone rugs keeps the furniture grounded while adding a soft and cozy spot for your bare feet.
KITCHEN/STAIRS
I am really loving dark kitchen cabinets these days!
I think if I were to re-do our kitchen, I would go dark.
The concrete counters select the fireplace in the adjoining room, keeping things very cohesive.
The metal barstools tie in with the cable on the stair railing nicely.
BATHROOM AND ANOTHER LOOK AT MY FAVORITE ROOM
I would love to see the other side of this bathroom.
From this angle it looks a little stark to me.
I feel like a vintage rug would really look great in here, but maybe the other side has more interest to it.
I do love that sink though and the concrete throughout this house is gorgeous!
