I love wrapping gifts and today my friends and I have so many good gift wrapping ideas for you! This year I simplified things by going with all one color wrapping paper. This wrapping paper is inexpensive and also comes in a jumbo roll. I used beautiful neutral ribbons in velvets and silks. You will be able to shop this post below, so be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this post. But the best part of my gifts I think this year is the easy DIY clay gift toppers I made to adorn them with . The recipient of the gift can keep these and hang them on their own trees for years to come! Aren’t they so cute? Let’s get started!
Here is what you need to make these adorable gift toppers-
Wooden cookie molds. I used this Santa, and this pinecone and tree. White air dry clay. You can get around 15-20 made from a 1.1 lb bag. Ribbon. Parchment paper. A straw. Wax, clear and dark, or watered down paint, or clear sealer spray.
INSTRUCTIONS-
Gather your molds. These are the ones I chose but there are so many good ones to choose from. I actually ended up buying this one after I made my first batch because I thought it was just too cute. These wash up really well so you can use these for your holiday baking after! Gather a large round of clay in your hands and soften it by rolling it into a ball in your hands. Then simply press the clay into the mold. I found it easiest to use a spatula to get rid of all the extra clay on top. You can do this by taking small sections at a time so the whole wad of clay doesn’t lift out. Then you are going to whack it really hard several times onto a piece of parchment paper to loosen and release. It will look a grayish color but will turn white as it dries. Right after you turn them onto the parchment paper, stick a straw in the top to create a hole for the ribbon to go through. I let mine dry overnight and then flipped them to dry another 24 hours. Placing them on a wire cookie rack will help get the air circulating and help them dry faster. I did this after I let them dry overnight the first night. Then you are going to want to add dimension and seal them. To do this I used a combination of clear wax and dark wax. You could use a number of things to seal them with though like I mentioned above. Once that is dry you can string ribbon through them and add to your gifts! Here is the exact paper I used which I love.
