Hello! Today I want to talk about gas fireplace inserts and fun ways to make them look custom.


I am talking about this because this is what I want to do to our own fireplace which I will show you in a minute.


This is our living room which shows our fireplace. 

And if we really want to go down memory lane, this was it when we bought the house in 1997. 

I brought the idea up to my husband and he said it would be a huge job to make the opening bigger. Nearly impossible, which means he doesn’t want to do it, so therefore I needed to come up with another solution. 


Our insert is ok, but it has it’s issues like everything does when it gets old. So we agreed to get a new insert that sits a little more flush. I am still on the hunt for one that will fit our opening perfectly and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. 


Wayfair has some great choices here, just in case you are in the market as well. Anything really will be an upgrade to what we have now.


So then my brain started going crazy thinking of ways I could make it bigger. I saw this image on Pinterest and fell in love.

I love it! The first step will be finding a new gas insert and once that is installed the surround can be built. Don’t you think that will look so much better? I am excited to get going on it. Stay tuned!
