These 10 tips for winter decorations after Christmas will keep your home warm and cozy, even without your twinkling tree.
In addition to my tips below you can also re-use some of your Christmas decor like pinecones, greenery, birch logs, and other nature inspired pieces.
Once your Christmas decor is down it is the perfect time to do a deep clean and de-clutter, which happens to be my first tip.
Be sure to pin these tips to your Pinterest boards!
1- De-clutter! Donate items you are no longer using, go through piles of papers and file the important ones, and toss the rest. Baskets are a great way to store clutter so it is not right in your face.
See how I organized our bathroom cupboards using basket and labels here.
2- Add in velvet for a cozy texture. I love velvet. It screams cozy to me. Switch up your pillows and add in some velvet for a change!
3- Add in cozy blankets and throws.
Think fleece, sherpa, faux fur, and knits to wrap yourself in. Nothing says cozy like a basket full of blankets sitting by the couch.
4- Dim the lights and light candles.
Nothing beats candlelight in the winter. I have candles burning all day everyday and I love burning this scent far past Christmas.
5- Add faux fur pillows to beds.
These are my all time favorite faux fur pillows. They are so soft and cozy. I have two on our queen sized bed in the euro size in ivory.
6- Add greenery to vases. Seeded eucalyptus is one of my favorite greenery choices to use in vases. The color is soft and subdued and the texture is gorgeous. I even found some faux seeded eucalyptus here and it looks very convincing!
However, you can also leave your faux holiday greenery in your vases for winter!
7- Warm up your color palette with hints of leather. Leather is such a great natural way to add texture into your winter decor. I have so many leather pillows and they are so yummy. I love black and cognac leather as well as caramel.
8- Add in elements from nature. Birch logs are a great way to add in winter warmth. Maybe you are even carrying them over from your holiday decor?! Cowhide rugs also add in warmth underfoot.
9- Use winter whites on your bedding and add in layers.
Instead of bright white sheets try layering on winter whites such as cream, ecru, linen, etc. for a cozy plush look. Use different textures such as flannel, faux fur, linen, and wool.
10- Create a coffee bar in your home.
Nothing beats a dreary rainy or snowy winter morning than curling up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Carve out a space on your kitchen counter or bar cart for a fun and fully stocked coffee bar. Click here to see how I stocked ours.
