I love setting pretty tables and am always looking for new creative ways.

I have come up with a fail proof method to a gorgeous table scape that you can use all year round, not just for summer.

It’s simple.

It’s easy.

Your table will look beautiful, trust me!

PICK A COLOR

It’s as simple as one color. That’s it. Pick one color and run with it.
And it can be any hue of that color. Say you pick purple. Add lavender, add in deep rich purples, any hue will work as long as you stick to one color.

My color choice? White, and it was inspired by these beautiful white lacy lilacs.

PICK YOUR FLOWERS

Look in your yard, even your neighbors yard. Look for flowers at your local grocery store. Trader Joe’s always has great inexpensive flowers.

Cut a bunch or buy a bunch. And they don’t all have to be the same kind, just the same color.

SHOP THRIFT SHOPS

Head to your favorite thrift shop to look for vases, plates, and cloth napkins that are the same color as your flowers. White is easy because there is always white dishes, bowls, etc. at thrift shops.

You do not need to spend a lot of money to get this look. I often pick up stemware for 69 cents, dishes that are under $1.00 {the dollar store is another source for dishes}

While you are at the thrift shop look for canning jars to serve ice water in. This creates a great laid back look for easy summer tables. You can also find them here.

CREATE A “RUNNER” WITH FLOWERS

Line your table with your flowers in the color coordinated vases, staggering them a bit for interest. Each vase does not have to be the same. In fact, it’s better if they vary in size and height.

“ACCESSORIZE”

It sounds funny saying you are going to accessorize your table now, but basically that is what you are going to do! Add in layers, again, all in that same color. I started with white cloth napkins topped with white dinner plates.

Next I added in white cake stands to elevate my salad plates. Creating different heights adds interest as well. Cake stands are a great way to do this. They don’t just need to hold cake!

I placed my silverware in another mason jar, a white pitcher for water, and a white salt cellar.

FOOD AND DRINKS

On an all white table setting like this, the food will really pop. Picture slices of watermelon on a large white platter. Grilled veggie skewers, salad, you name it, it will pop.

You can also create a fun signature drink to go with your meal for your guests with a cocktail that matches your color scheme.

I chose a summery drink made with coconut rum, half and half, and pineapple juice. Recipe below.

1.5 ounces vanilla vodka
1.5 ounces malibu rum
2 ounces half and half or whipping cream
1 ounce cream of coconut
2 ounces pineapple juice or more depending on taste

Dip your glass rims in honey, then immediately into sugar to make the rim sparkle.
Shake the above ingredients in a cocktail shaker and pour into martini glass.
