Hi friends! You guys went nuts for this over on Instagram so I thought I’d write up a blog post about how to create this gingerbread house village window decor here as well!
To create this look I used paper grocery bags from Trader Joes.
They have the cutest bags this season and I was so inspired by them! However, if you don’t have access to these bags, I have a link at the bottom of this post which will get you the same look, so read on!
Here are the steps to create your own gingerbread house village decor:
Gather your bags!
Head to Trader Joes during this holiday season and grab some groceries! Make sure you tell the cashiers hi and show them this fun project you are going to make!
Once home and after your bags have been unpacked, roughly cut around each gingerbread house image.
Next, tape them to the OUTSIDE of your window at the bottom.
Now, come back inside and using THESE PENS simply trace over the pattern!
It doesn’t have to be perfect as this is a whimsical project and perfection need not apply!
Once you have traced over everything, you can add a snowy base and dots or “snowballs” falling all over your window!
Remove your patterns and toss or save and re-use on other windows.
This pattern shows up best at night and looks pretty from the inside and the outside!
Please pin these images to share with everyone!
Below are the pens I used and a stencil for you if you don’t have access to the TJ bags! Simply click on the photo to take you to the product page. Yes, these pens do wash right off!

I hope you love this project as much as we do, and happy holidays to you!
