This is the first time I have ever tried anything like this. I started with this chair. I got it at a thrift store for $6.99! It wasn’t bad, but the fabric was a little dated. I ripped off the old “skirt” and went to work armed with a
staple gun
hammer
nail heads (had these laying around)
and
2 burlap coffee bags I bought off ebay for $2.00!
The coffee bags I bought are from Guatemala which has great meaning to me as my nephew was adopted from there! I had fun cutting these up, making sure I used the parts that said “Guatemala”

OK, back to the project! I covered the legs first. Doesn’t she have pretty legs? I think so.

Then I covered the seat (do you see the mess in the background getting bigger and bigger?)

I absolutely love it!! Great job!
Wow! Looks fabulous!
Oh, I am so in love with burlap! What a great idea.

Awesome. You did a great job. I just picked up a burlap bag at an estate sale this weekend from Brazil. Maybe someone should do a blog party on what to make with burlap bags!
I DO LOVE IT, BUT I THINK I WOULD OF PAINTED THE LEGS BLACK OR WHITE. AWESOME JOB!
Very cool. Great job!
It’s definitely original.
I always do lots of house stuff when my husband goes out of town – he leaves tomorrow and I have my to-do list ready! My kids always get a kick out of seeing how long it takes daddy to notice what I have done!
Love the chair! Great job.
WOW…amazing and the cost is right up my alley!!!
What a great job you did! I bet you are enjoying this chair.

Ah-Mazing.
Love your chair! I am so addicted to anything made out of the coffee sacks. I just posted about a headboard project, you should check it out.

Hi there, I only just found this post now. Your chair looks great.
I am thinking of doing the same with 2 small ottomans. My local coffee house kindly gave me 3 burlap sacks for free, which was great but I found that they shed lots and lots of fibres and I'm not sure what to do about it.
Do you have any tips for what to do? I'm wondering if washing them will help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to waste the burlap and love the print on it.
thanks 🙂
Does anyone knows how to clean or wash a burlap bag? I bouth some from ebay and they smell bad. Any ideas? Can I wash them in the "hand wash cycle".
Thanks!
