Hi guys!
I am going to dive right in today.
Have you guys seen this great art at Anthropologie?
Well, I have always loved it but at almost $2,000 a pop I thought I could create my own version for way less.
And that is just what I did.
One day when I was out thrifting I spotted these two pieces.
A DIY created by someone else and just begging to come home with me.
They were $6.99 each.
DONE.
Even if I screwed them up and had to re-Goodwill them, I could afford it.
So I brought them home and got out my some black paint I had leftover and went to town.
A couple coats later, and they were well on their way to Anthropologie glamour.
I used a pencil and “eyeballed” the art off the Anthropologie site.
In an effort to have it show up better for you to see, I went over the pencil lines with a piece of chalk.
I did this to both pieces and then using white craft paint and a thin brush, traced over the lines.
It was seriously one of the easiest projects I have ever done and I think they turned out so close to my inspiration.
I hung one upside down so the patterns didn’t line up and look boring.
What do you think?
I am so happy with how they turned out.
I always see art pieces like this at places like Ross.
They are inexpensive and just begging to be painted over and given new life.
So don’t worry if you don’t happen to stumble upon pieces at Goodwill.
Look at discount stores for pieces with the right shape and size.
Do you remember this Crate And Barrel art dupe I did?
Modern art is so easy to recreate because it is so simple and minimalistic.
Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, I challenge you to give something like this a try. Trust me, you will come out feeling like Picasso.
What are you waiting for?
Grab those paint brushes and have some fun!
You know the saying, “it’s only paint!”
Ready to see the final result?
I hung them in a corner of our basement where I do workouts.
I just love the texture of them and the striking contrast in colors.
Such a fun and simple DIY, and I love saving thousands!
Think you will give this DIY a try?
