I saw some Valentine’s cookies at the store the other day and it gave me an idea to make my own for my family and friends this Valentine’s Day.
I used the sugar cookie recipe I always use and then dipped them in dark and white chocolate for a really fun look.
You can make these in a variety of sizes, and can find inexpensive heart shaped cookie cutters here.Â
You will love the rich buttery taste of this sugar cookie, made only better with the addition of chocolate coating.
These sugar cookies will hold their shape and have a great flat surface for decorating.
They stay soft for days, and they freeze beautifully!
I always make more than I will need and freeze them for later.
In fact, you can always prepare for the next holiday by cutting out shamrocks or Easter bunnies now and freezing them for later!
If you roll your dough out to 1/4″ thickness you will get nice chewy cookies with a slightly crisp edge on them. So make sure not to roll them out any thinner.

These chocolate dipped heart cookies would look amazing on one of them!
Whomever you are making these for, they are sure to feel loved seeing the time and energy you put into them.
Try placing a few in a clear cellophane bag tied up with cute ribbon to give to your friends.
Or bring a plate of these cookies to your neighbor with a friendly little note.
Or, you can devour them yourself, I promise, your secret will be safe with me!
If you like this recipe, pease pin it to your Pinterest boards for later.
I guarantee you will be making these year after year after year.
Happy baking my friends!
