DIY Easter egg wreath-
Today I am going to show you how to make the cutest DIY Easter egg wreath!
The colors are completely customizable to match your decor, but I will be sharing the ones I used on mine as well.
What I love about this wreath-
It really makes a statement. It is large and chunky and full of gorgeous colors.
It is unique and like nothing you could buy off the shelf.
It is also very fun to make!
Supplies needed-
Hot glue gun and plenty of glue sticks
I highly recommend using matte paint. The wreath will look less plasticy and the overall look will be more high end than if you were to use gloss paint. This is just my opinion, take it or leave it! You can also mix colors to make your own. I did this a lot as I wanted subdued hues of colors, not bright glaring colors.
Plastic eggs, I used between 75-100. I preferred these to the kind that comes in 2 pieces so there is no seam visible. They are also easier to work with.
How to put this wreath together-
1- Protect the surface of the area you will be making this.
2- Paint your eggs. I poked a wooden skewer into the tiny hole on one end of the plastic egg and then stuck the other end into a chunk of Styrofoam. If you don’t have styrofoam you can poke them into the top of a shoe box or cardboard box. Paint your eggs all random colors. My eggs took 3 coats over each one.
*tip* it looks good and adds interest to speckle some eggs. Variation in the eggs is key to making this wreath stand out!
3- Once the eggs are dry you can start to hot glue them in random patterns to the front of your wreath form.
I also found it necessary to add hot glue to the back to keep them from falling off. Feel free to let the back of the wreath look messy with the glue, as it will be covered up later.
I grouped mine mainly in color blocks but then towards the end I just started filling in with what I had left.
4-Now that all the eggs are on, you can start with the front tucking in the spanish moss into any gaps. I also went around the interior circle to cover up any of the wreath form that was still showing. You can use hot glue for this if needed.
5- Once the front is to your liking, flip it over and cover the entire backside in spanish moss. This will keep it neat looking if you hang it from a window or glass door.
6-Finally, tie on a ribbon or piece of twine and hang!
Please pin these images to your Easter or DIY boards!
That is it!
What do you think? Think you’ll make one? I can’t wait to re-use this year after year after year!
While it was a bit time consuming to paint all the eggs, I think the rich saturated colors are worth it and I love how it turned out!
