Today I want to share my tips for choosing faux floral stems and how you can create a realistic arrangement with them. Faux flowers and stems have come a long way. Nowadays it is really hard to tell fresh from faux. Here are my tips for finding the best artificial flowers, and a few of my favorites. If you follow my steps when purchasing, people will be questioning if they are fresh or faux! Fresh or faux? The best artificial flowers!
1- Use the best you can afford.
The best faux florals unfortunately seem to cost the most. But keep in mind these will last a lifetime so really they are cheaper than buying real. Real florals last a week or so and then you have to toss them in the trash. These faux florals can be used in different rooms, in different vases, and can be used year after year after year. Afloral is a great source for luxurious artificial florals. These lilacs are gorgeous. I just love lilacs but they die so fast! I also love a good faux dahlia as shown above in our kitchen. And lucky for us, they are on sale right now!
2- Mix faux and real, and even add water to your vessel!
These tulips are so incredibly real looking it is unbelievable! I have them in several colors, and the best part is they are $19.99 for 30 stems! The stems bend easily so you can manipulate them to go every which way in your vase to look even more realistic. The green stem and leaves are dead on in color and I just can’t say enough good things about them! See all the different colors right here.
3- Choose florals in the same color family.
You all know I love a good neutral and these faux Queen Anne’s Lace stems are to die for. They are around $20 a stem but come with multiple florals on each one. I like to group 5-6 in a large vase for a really full display. I have these in several different areas of our home, they are 100% my favorite!
4- Bend, don’t cut the stems
Most faux florals come with long stems and notches in them. Instead of cutting the stems to fit your vase, try bending them instead. In the future if you want to put them in a taller vase you will be glad you still have the long stems! Here are a few more of my favorite artificial flowers. I need those tulips ASAP. Thanks for the source. I love fresh flowers, of course, but sometimes if you are traveling, they don’t make sense.
Lovely post, Melaine.
Happy Spring.

Melaine,
I love real, but I must admit, some faux flowers and branches look like the real thing. I agree with your advice, buy the best you can afford.

Thank you for sharing great faux florals. I always have such a hard time finding realistic ones I like. I love the Queen Anne’s Lace flowers you found! Also, great tip about bending the stems and not cutting, I’ve cut them before and then can’t use them in other vases. Great tips!
