Love all the Christmas music! Sorry when the holiday is over I have to go back to life without the carols.
My favorite tradition is gathering the family up, filling to go cups with hot chocolate and riding around looking at the christmas lights!
We always had steak and eggs for breakfast on Christmas morning – starting when we were very poor, the children were small, and steak was (and still is) such a luxury! Our children now continue it if they can't make it home for Christmas! Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas!
Our favorite tradition is the blessing my husband writes and reads over our kids on Christmas morning.
We have breakfast and gift opening with our grown children and grandkids on Christmas Eve morn before we go on to the extended family festivities in the evening. It's a fun thing to wake up for, reminding us of the excitement of waking up on Christmas morning when we were kids.
Merry Christmas Melaine! I'd so love this book. So my favorite Christmas tradition is going shopping with my 2 little guys to pick out their gifts to give. They always find the funniest and cutest things. Then I help them wrap them up and put them under the tree.
One of my favorite holiday traditions is our Christmas eve celebration. My mom cooks the traditional 7 fish Italian dinner. All the cousins SQUEEZE into my parent's stair case for pictures. Usually there are 11 of us including significant others. It gets funnier every year as we don't all fit anymore. Its a tight squeeze.
My favorite tradition is just the simple opening of presents on Christmas morning. That, and making Puppy Chow and eating way too much of it!map
My favorite tradition is opening pajamas after the candle light service at church. Then we all gather in the kitchen and eat finger foods with our PJ's on.
My favorite tradition is loading up the kids in the car and driving around to look at Christmas Lights.

My favorite Christmas tradition is making a gingerbread house with my boys family on Christmas Eve. We started it as a way to keep the kids occupied during the excruciatingly long wait before the big day. My kids are all grown now, but the tradition has stuck. Whenever we are all together for Christmas, we make a gingerbread creation. They have even said they would start the tradition in their own families.
Our favorite family tradition during Christmas is giving to those in need. We usually find a giving tree and have everyone pick a child to give to!
Christmas Eve with the family…lots of games and laughs, and the kids get PJ's & a book to open. The anticipation of Christmas morning is the best part.

Lots of amazing and fun traditions, but I love when we set up the nativity and the kids carefully place each piece in place as my husband talks about the significance. I like starting the season with the reminder of Jesus Christ coming to earth to die for me. Thankful for His birth, death, and resurrection and that through faith I can be forgiven from my sins. Our family loves Christmas Eve Mass, even the teenagers!
My favorite holiday tradition is one from my Dad's side of the family. Santa brought our Christmas tree! He brought it on Christmas Eve night, along with our presents, after we were in bed. I just love everything about Christmas – the lights, decorations, Christmas music, food, and most importantly being with family. As a child I always got a new pair of pjs after arriving home from Christmas Eve service and have continued that tradition with my daughter, who is now 24 and still expects her new pjs on Christmas Eve. I love pulling out decorations that have been away for a year and making treats that are only made this time of year. I also love reading through the Christmas story and remembering the real reason for the season – the birth of my savior, Jesus Christ.
Thanks for the chance to win. Wishing you a very blessed Christmas!

A treasured family tradition at Christmas is music. I can't imagine the holidays without it. We love every type of music – from the Messiah to Bing Crosby. We have it playing nearly all the time!
My parents grew up on a farm in Iowa during the depression and were were thrilled to find the rare, fresh orange in their stockings Christmas morning. They kept that tradition alive for my brother and I. The orange is a reminder to be thankful for the simple things. My boys are in their twenties and as my brother and I did before, my boys still go to their stockings first to get their orange and reflect on it's meaning. (leahv@comcast.net)
We bring out the china and crystal for a lovely Christmas Eve dinner. I make a Christmas ornament to put at each place setting. The ornament is always something that represents the nativity. I best get busy as they aren't made yet, yikes!

I love our Elf on the Shelf. His name is Tattle {because he's a tattle tale}. He arrives on Thanksgiving night, and stays keeps watch over my children till Christmas Eve. I'll cherish these memories forever.

Christmas Eve we all perform skits or show our special talents. It is like a family talent show. Then we play games. It helps keep the focus on the family.
Turning off all other lights than those that are decorations and taking a hot toddie or cup of tea and just taking it all in. Reflecting on past Christmas memories and how the present has blessed our family. Sometimes it is the simple blessing of all of us being in one place at one time and just sitting together and pausing long enough to be thankful for the gift of Christmas.

Awesome giveaway Melaine! Thanks for the opportunity! Ahhh – so many traditions, it's hard to pick a favorite – but I'll have to go with our (extended) family's Christmas eve celebration where we all get together – feast on hot sandwiches and favorite appetizers (that don't get changed up often because everyone has their favorites), and then opening gifts. Since our family no longer exchanges gifts among the adults, it's just the little ones – but still, it's wonderful. Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
A new tradition with my son is volunteering at the Salvation Army's Toy n' Joy. Being able to help ensure others will have a Merry Christmas is a wonderful feeling.

My favorite is taking a night hike to a tree behind our church, decorating with animal friendly ornaments, and singing Christmas carols.
It's a tie between carols by the fire and our {mostly} annual Christmas caroling party! Great giveaway!!!
I think what I love most about Christmas traditions is how you continue to create & recreate them throughout the many phases of your life, My oldest family tradition is baking my great grandmother's very famous & very delicious sugar cookies. She passed away when my mom was in college so I never had the chance to meet her, but she was a huge influence on my mom. When the two of us would bake together, I would hear stories from my mother's childhood & her beloved grandmother. Now, I get to relive all of that when I bake with my sweet step-daughter – she keeps me company while I make the dough & handle the oven duties. Then she steps in when it's time to frost & sprinkle, just like I did when I was her age. It always makes me very happy, heartwarmed & into the holiday spirit.
Merry Christmas & happy holidays,
Kristie

Back home in Puerto Rico, Christmas extends past December thanks to Three Kings Day (6 Jan). We would gather some fresh grass for the camels the night before and place it in a shoebox near our beds – in the morning there would be presents and a trail of grass as the camels walked away with our offering.
Now a mom, I plan to incorporate this tradition into my little boy's Christmas celebration and await that magical moment when he sees the grass is gone…

My favorite tradition is hearing my children calling us to get up because Santa came and then after the presents are opened and calls wishing Merry Christmas to family have been made is to make a big breakfast for us to sit down to.
Our favourite holiday tradition is to read the Bible story of Jesus birth before we enjoy unwrapping our gifts. the Little ones now run and get the Bible before we start and just love it.
My favorite tradition is that Christmas Day is just our immediate family. I let the kids pick the menu for the day. They love it and I love cooking all of their favorites. I know this won't be a long lasting tradition as the kids grow and have their own families, so that makes this all that much more special. It is our special time. We love spending the days before and just after with our families.
Our family lives far away from us in various parts of the world…so for many years, we have packed up a Christmas picnic and headed outside..complete with vintage plaid picnic basket, feshly packed food, thermos full of hot tea we are off..last year we even found (by great chance )a picnic spot name Christmas..how perfect is that!
I have met Serena several times at the Farm chicks..what a gal..thanks for your generous offer to give her book as a gift.
Love and blessings,
Dagmar❤
I love having stuffed french toast in the morning with orange juice. Love this time of year.

On Christmas Eve, the children in my family reenact the Nativity scene while my mom reads the story from the Bible. As a child, I had turns as Mary, an angel, and even Baby Jesus! Now I get to enjoy watching my nieces and nephews participate. With a family as big as ours, we sometimes have more than one Baby Jesus, extra Wise Men, and shepherds who use their staffs for impromptu sword fights.
I love unwrapping the ornaments we have collected over our 42 years of marriage…even the one-eyed Santas and the sandpaper reindeer made by our grandchildren when they were little…Patty in Kansas
Baking and driving around to see the Christmas displays. We have a family tradition of decorating gingerbread houses. I bake a gingerbread house for every member of our family – which totals 11. We started this tradition 13 years ago when our youngest two grandchildren (we have five) were only 18 months old and they are now freshmen in high school. Our oldest grandchild is a sophmore in college. The interest is doing this has not wained one little bit in the thirteen years. We are so blessed and the memories we have made are priceless. I look forward to many more years of making more wonderful memories.
Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Cathy (2stos1@comcast.net)
Our family has a theme every Christmas. This year it is Swiss-German. Last year it was the Old West. The theme determines food, music and entertainment (and sometimes dress). I want that book! Thank you!

This tradition is not mine, but a dear family friend's tradition. The minister from the Methodist church had a large family, they lived in the parsonage on the corner of our block. There was always something going on there, all the neighborhood children were welcome at any time. Sometime during the Christmas celebration, when all the family were there visiting, you would suddenly hear this great jolly laugh, and then the sound of a huge amount of hard candy hitting the floor in the next room. That would send the kids running to gather the treats and possibly get a glimpse of this mystery elf. I don't know exactly how many years the Campbell family has had this tradition , but my friend says she still to this day, isn't sure who the elf is. The dear Reverend Campbelll passed away just this past Fall, but he left his family and all of the MYF gang with such wonderful memories.
I've so enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Thanks for sharing with me
Smiles,
Carol

My favorite holiday tradition is probably decorating the tree. My dads mom had the most beautiful tree that was packed with ornaments. Each year she would have us search for different ones. She had advanced Alzheimer's and they haven't had their tree up for years but this year some of my favorites from her tree are on mine… Can't wait to continue the tradition with my kids.

Wow I'm not sure I can even narrow down a favourite! I love it all. Cookies with the kids, their little trees in their rooms…just having family over and all the carols! Well I think one of my favouritest is Christmas Eve when we are all tucked in our beds, even the parents,..we leave the tree lights on all night as a symbol of the warmth in our hearts for a very special day to come.

Our favorite family tradition is to go on our annual tacky light tour. Our kids put on their pajamas, we pile into the car, then take our usual route which leads us to our favorite ice cream shop. We all go in for our favorite flavors (peppermint!) then get back in the car for the "grand finale" – the most decorated house in town (it was featured on TLC!).
I love your blog and with three girls who love to craft as much as me,. we'd be sure to find inspiration in this book! Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy! Merry Christmas!

Driving around in our pj's with hot chocolate looking at Christmas lights.
My favorite holiday tradition is listening to Johnny Matthis Christmas and Glen Campbell Christmas. My mom and dad always played this for us growing up on the ol' record player and I've started the tradition in my own home. It's not Christmas until I've heard it!
When I was little me and my three brothers had matching PJ's. Wonderful memories!! E-mail: york_gl@ascog.org
I would have to say that Christmas music gets me the most excited. When I hear it, I immediately slow down and it floods me with childhood memories-of my own, as well as when my teenagers were little…great, great memories!

With a new family of my own, we are just starting to form traditions that are special to us. I want Christmas to be a time of togetherness and warmth in our family. Some things I want our children to remember will be the Christmas music that plays in our home, the trimming of the tree, the many family dinners, and getting to stay up late for hot cocoa and Christmas movies.
This is my FAVORITE book! I check it out at the library at least 5 times a year. I would love to have it at my fingertips!
My favorite tradition is helping my children make gifts for each other.
Having our Christmas Eve dinner and then opening up our presents and watching the kids (who are now in college)checking out their new presents, detail by detail!

There are so many to choose from=) I would say either decorating the tree with all my favorite ornaments from the past, or baking cookies with my Mom and my little one=) Merry Christmas~
When the kids were young and still at home we opened presents first thing on Christmas morning–most of the day way too early! After that was breakfast which always included a sausage and egg casserole; then going to church.
It sound so lame but my favorite tradition is -after all the other decorating is done- to trim the tree with strings of fairy lights, tinsel, baubles, ornaments and then stand back to see it illuminate the whole room 🙂

My favorite Christmas tradition is Midnight Mass… oddly enough, my second favorite tradition is decorating the mantle- it's different every year, and somehow it always feels like the main focus of holiday decor for me 🙂
We have fondue on Christmas Eve with the whole family.

We began a new tradition just last night with our good friends. Four young families gathered for an easy, snacky dinner, then took the children on a garland-and-lights-covered hayride through the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. The children chose their favorite homes to stop and surprise with carols. We capped off the evening with homemade hot chocolate for everyone. These families have become one big family and I can't wait to carol together with the kids next year!

I found your blog today and love it! Your wonderful style is so appealing! Please put me down for the book drawing – I would love to win it!
Favorite tradition? Hmmm.waiting until the last minute to shop and wrap? NO, that's is NOT it! It would be watching the Christmas Ships annual lake cruise and listening to the choir from our deck! 🙂
Our family loves to go Christmas Caroling. We have three boys, now adults, and we all love to sing. We choose people in our church or neighborhood who are ill, or unable to get out and sing to them. We have a great time and people are so thrilled to be sung to! This year our new two month old grandson came with us, so the tradition is being carried on. Love that!
I love spending time doing our Christmas Eve puzzle. Since my girls were born we have done a Christmas-themed puzzle on Christmas Eve. They started out only being 10 pieces or so when they were younger to the 1,000 plus piece puzzles we do now that they are in their teens. We have saved every puzzle and will pass them on to the girls. ncrebels@yadtel.net
Spending Christmas at our cabin. We "hunt" for out tree and string popcorn for it. I love all the photos of the boys wearing their big waffle stompers and weilding their tree saws.
I think our favorite holiday tradition is hiking through the snow to find our trees. The kids each get a small one from the woods for their rooms as well!
We also love being able to stay home Christmas day and just play with all the new things!

my tradition is to fly to my parent's house in kentucky (i live in seattle) and hit up at least 3 family holiday gatherings! have a good christmas to you and your family 🙂 lindseyfister at gmail dot com
Decorating gingerbread houses with my daughters.
I love taking our daughters out to shop for each other…they are twins and have a blast picking out something special.
When we first got married we had no money for Christmas gifts and more work to do on our house than we could afford. So for Christmas my husband's family started the tradition of "giving a day." On the Saturdays following Christmas we'd all head to one home and wark for a day on whatever projects needed to be done. Then we'd do another house on the subsequent Saturday. It was always a win/win….projects would get done and we'd have more opportunities to spend time together. Now that we're farther apart, it's hard to continue, but I've always loved the memories.
