About 6 months ago we had a closet company come in to give our basement a little organization.
We used Closets By Design {not sponsored} and were very happy with everything from ordering to install. You can see Cash loves it too.
This is the best picture I could find of the before is below.
This was probably around 2014. The area the closet system is in now is where it says “Go Outside” the skis on the wall, and the cupboards below.
Wall to wall storage and I LOVE IT!
I designed this closet to hold all my craft supplies, {behind the doors on the left} all my husbands coat and boots,{behind the doors on the right} Â and all the other sports stuff in the middle. Hunting gear, bike helmets, ski helmets, ski bags, walkie talkies, camping gear, carry on suitcases, etc.
This closet system has changed the way we live and it is so handy to have everything within reach and with it being so organized, we know exactly where everything is.
There’s so much to talk about here, including all my favorite organizing containers you see, and don’t see.
Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this post for all the sources.Â
I have tried so many different things, and these ones work so well.
I also found some great washable rugs for this space. This room doubles as a mud room and with pets and the traffic it gets, that was important.
I secured each storage drawer down with putty, which you can kind of see in the pictures, but it is behind closed doors so I don’t really mind. What I did mind was the drawers moving all over the place when I opened and shut them.
This solved the problem immediatly.
The one necessity when organizing is a label maker!
It is so nice being able to see {even though these tupperwares are see through} what is behind each storage piece, quickly and easily.
I had the company install 2 rods which normally would be for hanging clothes.
Instead I am using them to hold wrapping paper and a few other things.
Another thing I love are these acrylic containers.
One holds tissue paper and small boxes, as the label says 🙂
The other holds birthday cards for every occasion. I labeled each section so I can easily find one.
*TIP* the Dollar Tree has cards that are 2 for $1.00. They are really nice ones too! It is nice to have a bunch on hand if you need one in a pinch.
A couple thrifted containers hold pens, pencils, and scissors for wrapping gifts.
I also hung a few large “S” hooks to the clothing rod which hold some luggage tags that also double as gift tags.
It’s a gift wrapping station, a craft closet, a coat closet, a sporting goods storage space, and more!
Below are items that I used in the space which have helped keep it organized.
The baskets I used are sold out, but here’s a good alternative below.

I’m so envious of all that storage! Can you believe I have my craft supplies shoved in the bottom of a tiny linen closet? Someday 😉
