With 2 active teens and 2 busy parents, we sometimes find it hard to have a sit down meal every evening. While sitting together sharing stories of our day over dinner is ideal, it’s not often practical.

This year I have tried doing things a little different to avoid the nightly rush out the door to football practice, etc.

I have set a basket out on the counter full of healthy after school snacks, and for dinner on the go, a simple charcuterie board often does the trick. The kids, as well as us, can grab a few bites as we pass through.

I also love a charcuterie board for girls nights, neighborhood dinners, even holidays.

In todays fall tour with Kristen and Country Living, I would like to show you how I have decorated our dining room and how it is used on these busy days.
I have also teamed up with * All Modern * to bring you some fun new items, which I am absolutely in love with!

My hutch in our dining room is stacked high with extra dishes, and it also serves as a bar cabinet.

The black dinnerware sets from All Modern are so great with all the other black I have going on in the room, and they are perfect to set the fall mood.
On each plate I placed a simple green sprig to add color.
The fruits are really all the color I needed, and it was refreshing using edibles for a centerpiece rather than flowers.

 Almost all of the food is from Trader Joes with the exception of the grapes which are from my neighbors grape vines.

I just got the cutting board at TJ Maxx, and the wooden bowl was a recent garage sale find.

In this corner I have a thrifted pot full of eucalyptus and other greens, and a sage green pumpkin as simple decoration.
The table is from ATG stores, it’s one of my favorite pieces.

I’m still loving my vintage wood chairs, but to add to the mix I got 4 of these black bentwood chairs.
I love the color, the shape, everything about them!

I have a large jute rug under the table topped with a white cowhide from All Modern.

I seem to have a fast growing collection of vintage breadboards, to to keep them all together I put them in this barrel from Cost Plus World Market.

I also thought it would be fun to show you a favorite spot of mine in our basement/mud room  for this tour as well.

Our mud room serves as a place to store all our sports equipment. It also has a room for our dogs to go if we have company over and need them out of our hair.

It’s super cozy and a quiet place to read a good book.
