I am so excited about todays DIY project!
I started thinking of this project last year and am so excited my vision came to life.
Do you remember this post where I spray painted houses black and used them as bookends?
This project is a take off of that only ten times better in my opinion.
All year long when I have gone thrifting I have had my eye out for dollhouses and birdhouses.
Why you might ask?
Well, I am about to show you.
But first, let me show you my haunted village.
Isn’t it great?
Did you guess now that these started out as dollhouses and birdhouses?
Not one of these cost over $5.99, so I new if this project turned out to be a bust, I wouldn’t be out a ton of money.
However, I am so happy with how this all came together!
I found the plastic dollhouse spray painted the best, but the wood one with the shingle roof is pretty darling too.
I have a hard time choosing a favorite.
Before above, and Black spray paint to the rescue again!
I do think if I do more of these, I will do some charcoal.
After spray painting I turned into a kid playing dollhouse again, and started shopping the miniatures section for adirondack chairs, mini skeletons, benches, mini pumpkins and mushrooms, grey moss, and spanish moss.
Putting the haunted village together in a display was fun and the finishing touch is battery operated flickering tea light candles, so at night you get a spooky glow showing through the windows!
Such a simple project and one I can store in the attic and pull out year after year after year.
What do you think?
Do you think you will be making a haunted village too?
