It’s a DIY kinda day and I am so excited to share with you how to make this DIY tangled rope wreath!
This is such a fun wreath, especially for those that live on or near water, as it has a slightly coastal vibe.
{Pin my for later}
I was totally channeling Leanne Ford while making this wreath, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
Speaking of Leanne Ford, have you seen all her great products in collaboration with Crate & Barrel? So, so good!
I think I could watch every single one of her tv shows on repeat too and never get bored.
Ok, back to the DIY tangled rope wreath.
This wreath is a bit quirky, a bit messy, but beautiful in it’s own way.
I hope you like it as much as I do.
I should note that it is very easy to make as well. If you can loop rope together, or tie a knot, you can make this wreath.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS DIY TANGLED ROPE WREATH:
Start with a wreath form.
I picked my 12″ wire wreath form for under $3.00 Â here.
You can really use any wreath form though.
You might have one laying around even.
Then you will need various lengths of rope.
Of course I used neutrals, because I love neutrals.
You will want a variety of rope sizes, colors, ages, and lengths.
Ask your neighbors, search facebook marketplace, shop Etsy, Ebay, wherever you can get your hands on old rope.
If you use new rope, you can make it look old by soaking it in coffee or tea.
For mine, I put it out there on Facebook Marketplace that I was in search of FREE rope.
I got a response almost immediately and went and picked up a ton of it.
I also bought some new here, here, and here, just for the variation in color and texture.
I also picked up a fishing net to further add texture to the tangled wreath.
HOW TO MAKE THE DIY TANGLED ROPE WREATH:
Start by cutting various lengths of rope.
If you are using a fishing net, you can cut sections out of it, or use the whole thing.
I used the whole thing and messily wrapped it around the wire wreath form.
Then I started adding lengths of rope, one at a time, wrapping around the wreath form with no rhyme or reason.
You want this to look like it’s been around for years and so the messier the better.
Use different thickness’ of rope, different color, and weave them in and out, all different directions, tying in knots.
Keep going until you get the desired look you are after.
What do you think?
I am in l o v e with it!
