Modern Ralph Lauren Inspired Home: How I Created a Collected Look
I’ve always loved the timeless, collected look of Ralph Lauren interiors. The rich textures, warm wood tones, classic patterns, and equestrian-inspired details create spaces that feel sophisticated without sacrificing comfort. This is my take on a modern Ralph Lauren insired home.
But when it comes to decorating our own home, I wanted to give that traditional aesthetic a more modern feel.
My goal was to create a modern Ralph Lauren inspired home that feels warm, inviting, and collected over time.
Think dark wood, warm neutrals, tailored furniture, vintage-inspired accents, and just enough contrast to keep everything feeling fresh.
I recently had a little fun turning photos of our home into a digital design magazine, highlighting some of my favorite spaces and the details that bring everything together.
Today, I’m sharing that magazine with you, along with my favorite decorating tips for creating a collected, modern equestrian-inspired home.
And because I know you’ll ask about some of the furniture and accessories, I’ll be linking my favorite pieces throughout the post so you can shop the look, too!

1. Creating a Modern Ralph Lauren Inspired Home
One of the things I love most about decorating is that a home is never really finished.
It’s always evolving as we discover new pieces, rearrange furniture, and find little ways to make our spaces feel more personal.
For me, creating a collected home means choosing pieces that feel timeless rather than following every new decorating trend.
I love mixing furniture with clean, modern lines alongside vintage finds, natural textures, and accessories that have a little history.
In this little corner of our home, the light wood cabinet, oversized framed artwork, and simple styling create a look that feels both modern and classic.
The key is keeping things intentional.
A few thoughtfully chosen pieces can make just as much of an impact as an entire room filled with accessories.
2. A Cozy Corner With Timeless Style

Every home needs a cozy corner where you can slow down and relax.
This little spot beside our stone fireplace is one of my favorites.
The upholstered chair has a soft, sculptural shape that adds a modern element, while the dark wood flooring, black metal shelving, and natural stone bring in warmth and character.
I added a textured throw and a classic striped pillow to make the space feel extra inviting.
The combination of soft upholstery and darker accents creates the kind of balance I love in modern Ralph Lauren inspired interiors.
It’s comfortable, understated, and timeless.
3. Modern Ralph Lauren Inspired Equestrian Decor

One of my favorite ways to incorporate a modern Ralph Lauren inspired look into our home is through subtle equestrian details.
You don’t need an entire room filled with horses or traditional riding accessories to achieve this style.
Sometimes, one carefully chosen piece is all you need.
In our guest room, I styled a small sculptural horse on top of a stack of books alongside a dark vase filled with dried stems.
The combination of the warm wood wall, tailored nightstand, and simple accessories gives the space a subtle equestrian feel without making it look overly themed.
I love how the dark vase adds contrast against the lighter furniture.
When decorating with equestrian-inspired accessories, I recommend choosing pieces with simple silhouettes and keeping the surrounding styling minimal.
This allows the individual pieces to stand out while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
4. Bringing Nature Into Our Home

Our home is surrounded by trees, and that natural setting has influenced so many of our design choices.
From the warm wood siding to the dark metal roof and slim black railings, I love how the exterior combines rustic materials with modern architectural details.
The dark finishes create contrast against the surrounding greenery, while the wood helps the house feel connected to its natural setting.
This combination of materials is something I carry throughout our interiors as well.
Natural wood, stone, metal, and organic textures create a consistent design story from the outside in.
It’s also a reminder that your home’s surroundings can be one of the best sources of decorating inspiration.
Whether you live in the woods, near the water, or in the middle of a city, incorporating natural materials can help create a home that feels warm and grounded.
5. Modern Ralph Lauren Inspired Table Styling

I love setting a beautiful table, especially when we’re having friends or family over.
For this look, I wanted to create something that felt classic and collected but still relaxed enough for everyday entertaining.
The dark wood dining table and chairs provide a strong foundation, while the plaid linens add a subtle nod to traditional Ralph Lauren style.
I kept the place settings simple with neutral dishes, clear glassware, and black candlesticks.
The oversized rustic vase filled with natural branches brings in an organic element that softens the darker furniture.
And one of my favorite details is the little wooden stool tucked beside the table.
It’s an unexpected touch that adds character and makes the entire setting feel less formal.
My favorite table styling tip is to mix classic patterns with simple, modern pieces. Plaid, stripes, and natural textures work beautifully together when you keep the overall color palette consistent.
6. Mixing Modern and Traditional Furniture

One of the easiest ways to create a modern Ralph Lauren inspired home is by mixing traditional materials with furniture that has softer, more contemporary lines.
Our kitchen is a great example of this.
The dark countertops and oversized metal pendant lights create a strong contrast against the lighter cabinetry.
Meanwhile, the upholstered counter stools bring softness and texture into the space.
I love the combination of the rounded upholstery, black metal frames, and sheepskin throws.
The different textures keep the kitchen from feeling too formal or industrial.
This is a decorating approach I use throughout our home.
Whenever a space has a lot of hard surfaces, I try to incorporate something soft, whether it’s an upholstered chair, a textured pillow, or a cozy throw.
It’s those little contrasts that make a room feel inviting.
7. The Finishing Layer: Decorating With Warm Metals

Sometimes, the smallest details make the biggest difference.
I love decorating with warm metal finishes, especially brass and antique gold.
These finishes add warmth to a neutral room and create a beautiful contrast against black furniture and darker wood tones.
In our home, I like to repeat similar finishes in small doses rather than filling an entire room with matching accessories.
A pair of brass candlesticks, a small decorative bowl, or a vintage-inspired lamp can be enough to tie a space together.
For this little vignette, I paired brass candlesticks with a dark coffee table book and simple greenery.
The combination feels classic and timeless without being overly styled.

8. Creating a Timeless Gallery Wall

If you’ve followed along for a while, you know how much I love a good gallery wall.
One of my favorite decorating tricks is using repetition to create a cohesive look.
In our living room, I used matching black frames with consistent spacing to create a large gallery wall behind the sofa.
The black-and-white photographs give the room a classic feel, while the simple frames keep everything looking modern.
I love how the gallery wall adds interest without competing with the other elements in the room.
The key is consistency.
Using the same frame style, matting, and spacing creates a sense of order, even when you’re displaying multiple photographs.
It’s an easy way to make a large wall feel intentional and finished.
9. Layering Texture in a Modern Ralph Lauren Inspired Home

One of the most important elements of a modern Ralph Lauren inspired home is texture.
When you’re decorating with a mostly neutral color palette, mixing different materials keeps a room from feeling flat.
In our living room, I layered a soft upholstered sofa with a warm leather pillow, a striped linen pillow, and a graphic throw.
The combination of leather, linen, and soft upholstery adds depth without introducing too many colors.
I also love using black accents to ground a neutral space.
The black picture frames, dark wood furniture, and graphic pattern on the throw create contrast against the lighter sofa.
If you’re decorating a neutral room, try incorporating at least three different textures.
You might combine linen, leather, wool, wood, or even a little metal.
These subtle differences make a room feel more interesting while keeping the overall look calm and cohesive.
10. My Favorite Neutral Paint Colors

Color plays such an important role in creating a cohesive home.
For our house, I’ve chosen a palette of warm whites, soft neutrals, and deep charcoal tones.
These colors work beautifully with natural wood, black accents, and the mix of traditional and modern furniture throughout our home.
Here are five of my favorite paint colors that help create our collected, modern equestrian-inspired aesthetic.
Benjamin Moore Graphite
Graphite is a beautiful deep charcoal that adds depth and contrast.
I love using darker paint colors to create cozy, intimate spaces, especially when paired with warm wood and soft textiles.
Benjamin Moore Ballet White
Ballet White is a warm, soft white that works beautifully with natural materials.
It’s a great option when you want a light and airy look without the starkness of a cooler white.
Sherwin-Williams Sandbar
Sandbar is a warm neutral that brings an earthy, grounded feeling to a room.
It pairs beautifully with dark furniture, warm metals, and natural textures.
Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa
Greek Villa is a soft, warm white that creates a beautiful backdrop for both modern and traditional furnishings.
I love how it works with natural wood and darker accents.
Benjamin Moore White Dove
White Dove is another beautiful warm white that feels timeless and versatile.
It’s a wonderful choice for creating a soft, neutral foundation throughout a home.
My favorite decorating tip is to think about how your paint colors will flow from one room to the next.
Repeating similar undertones helps create a cohesive look, even when you’re using different colors in different spaces.
If you love the rich, moody colors used throughout our home, you’ll also want to see my color-drenched room in Sherwin-Williams Rock Bottom. It’s one of my favorite ways to create a cozy, sophisticated space using a deep, dramatic paint color. Click here to take the tour.
11. Creating a Cozy Outdoor Living Space

I love treating our outdoor spaces as an extension of our home.
Our terrace is surrounded by trees, making it one of my favorite places to relax and entertain.
To create a cozy outdoor living area, I used comfortable seating arranged around a low fire feature.
The dark furniture and black planters tie in with the finishes used throughout our home, while the light cushions and natural surroundings keep the space feeling relaxed.
I also love using planters to help define an outdoor seating area.
They create a sense of enclosure without blocking the beautiful views.
Whether you have a large terrace or a small patio, arranging your furniture as you would in an indoor living room can make the space feel more inviting.
Add comfortable seating, a place to set your drink, and a few natural elements to create an outdoor space you’ll want to use all season long.

How to Create a Modern Ralph Lauren Inspired Home on a Budget
One of the things I love most about this decorating style is that you don’t need to spend a fortune to achieve it.
In fact, some of my favorite pieces throughout our home have been thrifted, repurposed, or collected over time.
When I’m shopping for our home, I look for classic materials and timeless shapes rather than focusing on a particular brand.
A vintage brass candlestick, a beautiful wood bowl, a simple striped pillow, or an oversized piece of framed artwork can all contribute to that collected, equestrian-inspired look.
I also love mixing affordable finds with a few investment pieces.
The secret is choosing items that complement one another rather than trying to make everything match perfectly.
And remember, creating a collected home takes time.
You don’t have to decorate an entire room at once.
Start with pieces you love, add layers gradually, and allow your home to evolve as you discover new treasures.
