I am serious.
My yellow lab could pass for a black lab right now,
just kidding.
A trip to home depot and I now have new mouldings around the door. I have to tell you, I had no idea what I was doing. I did call my husband, who is away on a fishing trip (therefore~the project) and ask him where the air nailer is kept. I don’t think he liked the sounds of that. I haven’t talked to him since.
It still looks a little “new” to me. But I’m sure before long the kids will have it broken in.
I did a few doodles, I think the paint fumes got to me.

I love it, after you showed the photos of the various rooms with chalkboard paint I had to do a wall in the kitchen, I am dying to but my husband is DEAD set against it. I will figure a way though, somehow, somewhere. It’s so weird too since his sister had used it in many of her rooms at various stages of her kids growing up. In any case I love what you did, especially the doodles!
I LOVE it. I wouldn’t have thought of that, but it’s a fantastic idea!!
Now, if I could just decide whether to pain my trim white or cream within the next 3 hours I would be in grand shape.
It looks great Melaine! I think your husband will love it, but if he doesn’t, send him packing!!! (jk, lol) I showed my husband and he thought it was awesome.
You are so talented! I bet your husband digs that about you! Great job on the pig!
I think it looks fantastic!! With husbands, I find it’s better to ask forgivness than for permission… besides, I think he’ll love it. It’s only paint anyway, right? 😉

I think it looks amazing!!! I am impressed it’s an entire wall!!! Great job!
I’m sure your husband will be overjoyed at yet another wonderful thing you’ve come up with!! (at least you can go on that thought till he gets home) I personally LOVE it!! I would be afraid of what my boys might come up with to draw on the chalkboard, but I’m about to add a panel of it to an old screen door for my pantry…we’ll see how creative they get…
I think that your chalkboard wall is great, and I bet that your husband will agree. Everyone always gather in a kitchen and with this great wall, you know they will never leave. What a great conversation piece! Enjoy!
Hi Melaine,
I think your chalkboard wall and molding looks fantastic!
I just bought a can of chalkboard paint to paint the back of my peninsula. I can’t wait. I think I’ll work on it tonight while the kids are sleeping, and no little fingers will reach into the can.
It looks great, and of course you’ll still be married on Monday. What man doesn’t like black?!
Have a great weekend!

I agree with Rue! My husband always freaks when I call asking where a tool is.
melanie…i love it! i’ve been painting all weekend too….we’ll see what hubby thinks tomorrow upon his arrival….the black walls look STUNNING! casual and elegant all at once….kudos 🙂
I love how it turned out! Love the doggie doodle too : )
I have been wanting to do this so badly!! But I’m terrified Mr. Jones will freak. Let me know how it goes for you. 😉

Oh, and I do projects like this when Mr. Jones is out of town, too. I think he is afraid to come home from business trips anymore.

So…are you still married?
It looks great!
Love it! My backsplash is painted with chalkboard paint and I love it! can’t wait to see the island!

You really did go all out. I love it. It really makes a statement in more than one way. 🙂 That should keep the kids busy for a while. And some adults too.
It's so dramatic, yet child-friendly and fun. I bet your husband will be surprised! Stop by my blog, I'm having a giveaway. 🙂
