COVID Has Prompted a Surge in Demand for One Specific Type of Home Addition.
There is a need for more flexible space like home offices since the pandemic hit.
What is an ADU?
ADU stands for accessory dwelling unit. Basically it is a secondary house or apartment that shares the building lot of a larger, primary house.
ADU’s are great because the whole family can be together, yet still have their own spaces. I for one really want to build one on our property!
ADU’s are similar to tiny homes, in my opinion. Maybe not as detailed with kitchens and bedrooms etc. but I feel like they are basically the same concept. And I LOVE tiny houses!
The first step in building an ADU is learning what you may or may not be allowed on your specific lot. You can call your local building department to find out.
