The gingerbread craze continues over here well into December.
It all started with my DIY gingerbread houses.
Then I got the cutest gingerbread pillow and mugs.
Then I got the notion to make gingerbread “cookies” that would last not only through the season, but for years!
Did I peak your curiosity?
How it all started-
It all started with this package of foam clay. It turned out to be the PERFECT gingerbread color.
Have you ever worked with foam clay? I had not, and it was really fun!
Let’s get started!
Use your hands to simply flatten it. You can try using a rolling pin, but if it sticks, just use your hands. I protected my counter with wax paper then just smooshed away.
Using cookie cutters, press into the foam clay, just like you are making cookies.
This foam clay is air dry, so let sit until dry.
I flipped mine over every few hours to ensure they dried evenly.
Time to decorate!
Using the same white glue I used on the gingerbread houses, I decorated them just like cookies.
You can outline the “cookies” add eyes, scarves, buttons, etc.
I googled gingerbread men images to get ideas.
I also made some Christmas trees, snowflakes, and stars.
I love how they turned out!
My husband literally just asked me if he could eat one of them, they are that realistic looking!
Other uses for these-
You could punch a hole in the top of these and use them as ornaments on your tree!
Add them to the top of gifts to make the package really special.
String them on a garland along with orange slices.
Place them on your holiday table at each persons place setting. You could even add their monogram with the white glue.
So many fun ideas, but I just love the bits of color and whimsy they add to our decor!
Is this a craft idea you’d like to make?
