Today I want to show you that you can create your own art, for pennies!
This DIY art from leftover cardboard project came to me when I was breaking down a bunch of Amazon boxes.
I had a light bulb in my head go off that told me I could create something beautiful with these discarded cardboard boxes, and that is exactly what I did!

{please pin me!}
MATERIALS NEEDED-
Leftover cardboard boxes
Paint
Paintbrush
Baking soda
Scissors or paper cutter
Hot glue gun

Instructions-
Gather your supplies.
I found my canvas’ at a thrift store but I found you some inexpensive ones here.
Cut up pieces of cardboard with scissors or a paper cutter. I used a paper cutter for mine to ensure even cuts. All my pieces are random shapes/sizes.
I am really happy I bought this paper cutter because I use it ALL THE TIME for random projects.
Next you are going to paint your cardboard pieces. I used a little baking soda mixed in with my paint to give it an even more textured look.
Simply sprinkle in a little {or a lot} of baking soda to your paint and stir!
You don’t need to worry about painting the backsides, but do paint the edges.
If you’d like, you can paint your canvas the same color as the majority of your cardboard pieces. At the very least, paint the sides and about a 1/2″ in all the way around.
Once dry you are going to simply glue on the pieces!
*TIP*
Lay out the pieces before painting so you know what your pattern will look like and how many pieces you will be painting, and what color.
Snap a quick photo so you remember how it will all go back together after you have painted your pieces.
OPTIONAL STEP-
This step is optional but finishes off the art nicely so I highly recommend!
Frame your pieces in these floating metal frames to really elevate them!
The best part is you can reuse them on other canvas’ in the future if you decide to swap out your artwork!
If you’d like to see a video on how I put mine together, head over to my Instagram page, and follow along!

The best part is that you can make this to match your own home decor.
I just used leftover paint from our home so it would all be cohesive. Let me know if you try this project!!
