I love decorating for the fall season! In fact I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated specifically for fall decor. Check it out here, there’s over 550 great ideas! And make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post, as I have more fall decor ideas to share. But today I am going to show you how to easily make these DIY concrete candle holders with no messy mixing, no lifting heavy cement bags, and using something you might already have in your pantry! Are you intrigued?
Supplies needed-
This project came about when I discovered this amazing product. It is a stepping stone mix and one package will make the three candle holders I have in these photos! I love making concrete projects but I don’t like hauling heavy messy bags of concrete and having to mix up big batches of it, only to have half of it go to waste. This product is perfect for this and mixes up in a small bowl by adding about 2 cups of water. Besides the stepping stone mix all you need is the forms to make these candle holders. Three containers of Pringles chips is all you need! Yes, you heard that right! If you don’t have them in your pantry, head to the grocery store and pick some up! I also made a giant candle holder from a oatmeal container. Basically you just need a cylinder shape and one that you can tear or cut away easily. I also like to use these little felt feet to protect the surfaces I place these on.
How to make these DIY concrete candle holders-
These are so simple to make. Grab a bucket and following the instructions on the package, mix the stepping stone mix with water and stir. Rinse out your chip containers and dry fully. Place them on a protected surface and slowly pour the mix into each container, filling them at different levels so you have varying heights. Let dry 24-36 hours. You can easily tear off the chip containers, and then let them cure for a little longer, about 24 more hours. If there’s any rough edges you can sand those off, and then add the sticky felt feet to the bottom.
How to display-
I found candles at the Dollar Tree and displayed these in a grouping on our new dining room shelves. These DIY concrete candle holders look unique and expensive but they are super affordable to make. Dim the lights, light the candles, and enjoy your handiwork and the ambiance of the candlelight.
