My friend Jen is having a party,
and I am never one to miss a party!
On her blog she shares how her style has changed over the years.
I got such a kick out of reading it and seeing her before and afters.
I too have gone through many styles.
I remember when we first renovated our kitchen we were so excited about our BRASS hardware!
Now you couldn’t pay me enough money to put those up again!
You like that deer head?
Going for the typical lodge look, we purchased leather sofas and knotty pine furniture.
I actually liked the furniture, but after I painted the walls, it just didn’t go.

I made the sign, kinda wish I would have kept it, but it’s in a new home now.

I really loved this sofa table too. It was HUGE and super expensive, although I got a really good deal on it. It had horseshoe drawer pulls and I topped it with an antler lamp.
The couch had leather pillows with fringe, some of them cowhide.
I actually liked this room, but it always felt really dark.
So, out came the “oatmeal” paint!
Then came my Ikea sectional which I love.
This photo was taken right after we completed the room.
It has even changed since then.
{and so has the dining room in the background!}
This is the wall behind the sofa.
Up until a week ago it looked like this.

Then I added some black frames.
Be sure to check out Jen’s blog for her photos and a lot of others!

Love the transformation….the lodge look was really big! Thanks for sharing!
One day we will look back on our current decor and will feel the same way about our outdated decor 🙂
That's the beauty of it, it's easily changeable and a reflection of our lives.
Love, love, love the newest look:) Very cozy and chic:)

Love the changes! It's amazing how different that room looks just by painting the walls!!
I remember the lodge look. Eeegahds! Thanks for sharing your transformations. Isn't it so crazy how styles change? I think of the dark red yucky paint in my dining room and I thought it looked sooo good! I'm scared to think of what will happen when cottage goes out…I hope it never does! Alyssa of Boston Bee
Love your transformation! We went from Tuscan to more Modern….it's a never ending design thing! But soo much fun (: You do a great job!

I remember when you started this transformation. The lodge look was as popular then as your eclectic chic look is now. Reminds me of how we feel when we look at old photos and think: I can't believe I wore that!
Your Friend,
Deborah
I love this room and I don't know if I woyuld have had the courage to paint it white, but I love, love, love it. Of course I love your kitchen and your hall and your front door. You have great taste!
hugs,
Donna
Wow – you give me hope! When we renovated our house, we did so many of the rooms to what we thought were "amazing" at the time. Now . . . three years later, I want to change it all! You've shown me it's okay to do it!
Hello,
It's almost a year since I found your blog. Just love it and your beautiful home. Thank you for the inspiration and for giving me the courage to try and do a blog of my own.
Take care,
Claudia
wowza…..I remember LOVING your house before you painted everything oatmeal…looking at the before and after photos is crazy….b/c now I can't imagine those walls not being painted oatmeal. :)))
it's perfect and those newly added black frames really stop the whole show. seriously. who knew making a little change like black frames could kind of make the whole room.
The transformation is gorgeous!
Wow! Unbelievable.
I would never have believed that the before-pictures belonged to you… they look nothing like you style (based on what I have seen on your blog only), but it is so funny how taste and trend changes over the years.
Wow such a transformation!!It is much better now!Love the frames.;) Rachel

All of your re-vamps look wonderful! Nice work!
This room of yours remains one of my fave re-dos of all time!
I never tire of seeing your transformation photos 🙂

Wow…looks like it went from cabin to cottage…I love it!!
I think I am going to hunt down an oar for my downstairs makeover in the family room!
I love seeing how everyone's styles and love items change! I think life is an evolution so our spaces evolve as well.
I always played it "safe" with decorating by keeping everything very contemporary. But I just felt it was too boring. After viewing your posts I have been inspired to change it up and bring in some vintage peices from the basement and go through my parents barn to see what "goodies" I can find. I love that I can now reflect my artistic side in my decorating, and also do it on a budget.
Melaine, I love the changes that you've made to your space! I think your talent really shows through the way you've put things together. I am so glad you were able to join in on the party! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home! Je
I would love to get one of those "all you need is love, love is all you need signs". Do you have any more? I checked your etsy store. :o)
