Have you ever had pickled onions? They are not only a delicious accompianment to many salads and main dishes, but they are also surprisingly easy to make. I love adding pickled onions to salads and mexican food, but you can also add them to burgers, pizza, potato salad, and more! All you need to make these is 5 ingredients: Red onions Apple cider vinegar Salt Sugar Water These take less than 5 minutes to prepare and only about 30 minutes to marinate. Plus you can store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks!
How to make easy pickled onions:
Here is how to make these easy pickled onions. 1- Slice red onions as thin as possible and set aside. 2- Simmer on the stovetop over medium the following: 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar with 1/4 to 1/2 cup water. Add salt to taste and 1-2 Tablespoons of sweetener. I used Swerve sweetener but you can use granulated sugar, honey, or maple syrup. 3- Cook until it becomes a simmer. 4- Add your sliced red onions to a mason jar, packing them in tightly. 5- Pour the hot vinegar mixture into the jar, completely covering the onions. 6- Screw lid on and let marinate for approximately 30 minutes. 7- Place in the refrigerator to cool before serving. These would be delicious on my cauliflower potato salad. This would be a super yummy and healthy summer meal.
