Welcome to a fun blog hop that is all about DIY wreaths!


Today I am going to show you how to make a driftwood wreath with a twist! 


This is perfect for any beach home, or any home with coastal decor.


Before we get started, here is what it looks like finished. I always like to show a pretty picture first.


The first thing you will need is the base for your wreath. I used this wood circle in a 15″ size. 

You will also need driftwood pieces and paint.

I had driftwood that I collected on a camping trip over the summer, but if you don’t have any, of course Amazon does right here. 

Pick a color to paint the front of your wood circle. One coat is fine, it doesn’t have to be perfect. I used a mushroom color called suede.


While that is drying, create your wording on a word document and print out. It doesn’t have to say welcome, it can be anything you’d like. 

Cut around the lettering, flip the paper over, and scribble pencil lead all over the backside of the wording.

Once that is done, and once your paint is dry, tape to the center of your wood piece.

Use a pen to trace around the lettering. It will transfer over to the wood piece when you remove the paper. 

Using a contrasting color, fill in the letters with paint and a fine paint brush. Again, this doesn’t have to be perfect because of the next step.

When everything is dry, lightly sand the whole piece to distress it.



Next comes the easy part!

Grab your hot glue gun and driftwood pieces and start glueing them in any fashion you’d like around the edge of your sign to form a wreath shape. 

To ensure my spacing was even, I placed a bowl in the center of the wood. 



That is it! You can add a hook to the back or a wire hanger.
