DIY DROP CLOTH FLAG ART
This project is very similar to some wall tapestries I made last year. If you don’t remember them, click here to see.SUPPLIES-
Drop cloth, I like to use old ones with paint splatters. If you don’t have an old one, you can use a new one which you can buy here and have fun making it look old by splattering paint on it. Iron. Measuring tape. Wonder Fuse. Grommet kit. Scrap fabric in white. If you don’t have any try using an old sheet.HOW TO MAKE-
You can make your flag any size you like. Mine is 2′ x 3′ Start by ripping your dropcloth {I prefer the frayed edge look} to desired size. I will be giving you the dimensions for everything on mine. If you make a different size you will need to adjust sizing on the stripes. You will need strips of fabric to make the stripes. Three strips of white fabric torn to be 2″ wide by 36″ long. Two strips of white fabric torn to be 2″ wide by 20″ long. Iron on the wonder fuse to one side of the stripes. Next, iron on a whole piece of wonder fuse to another piece of white fabric. Draw stars onto the fusible backing and cut out. If you don’t feel good about free handing the design, you can use a star cookie cutter or something similar to trace around. Once you have everything cut out you simply peel off the backing of the paper and iron on! Directions come with the package of the Wonder Fuse and it is really easy to use. If you would like to add grommets, which I suggest you do for not only hanging purposes, but because they finish off the design nicely, simply follow the instructions in the package. You can hang this indoors or outdoors. You can frame it or even use it on a table instead of a tablecloth. The possibilities are endless. I also think this would be a great piece to use year round, not just for the holiday! See my last post here for all the details on my Fourth Of July tablescape!Check Out These 4th of July Crafts
