DIY CLAY RABBIT SCULPTURE
You will need only a few things for this project: Air dry clay-this is the exact one I used. Rabbit template-grab yours here. Rolling pin. Chunk of wood-this is the one I used. 3/4″ floor flange 3/4″ x 8″ nipple Black screws. Ready to make it? 1-Get your clay onto a protected work surface. Print your bunny template and cut out. 2-Roll out your clay to about a 1/4″ thick slab using a rolling pin. 3-Place your template on top of the rolled out clay. 4-Using a sharp knife, cut around the template while holding the template in place. 5-Cut out another one so you have 2 of the same. 6-Place the nipple laying down on top of one of your cut out clay rabbits, just covering the threaded part on one end. The other end you will thread the flange on to. 7-Using a spatula, carefully place the other clay rabbit cut out on top of the nipple, sandwiching the first one. 8-Shows what step 7 looks like. 9-Using extra clay, fill in any gaps between the 2 rabbits. 10-Add in any more clay between layers smoothing out with a wet finger. This will make the rabbit 3 dimensional. 11.Use any kitchen tools you can find to slightly indent where the eye would go, any fur indentations you’d like to make, ear detail, or anything else. 12-This is the tricky part. You’ll need to stand this up on the flange to let dry 24 hours. Â Once you have it standing up you can smooth out any lines or add any more clay where you see fit. The whole piece is going to want to go with gravity downward so you will need to get creative on propping it up while it dries. As you can see I used 2 cans under the front and back legs, a ruler to help it from not sliding down the nipple, and a round dowel like instrument under the ears. After 24 hours you can remove those and screw the flange into your chunk of wood and display!8 Easter Decor Ideas for Your Home!
