I have the funnest project for you today!
It is a DIY leaf trivet/dish that you make from air dry clay, and a leaf from your yard!
Couldn’t be simpler.
Fun craft to do for fall doing Covid.
I hope you find this project as fun as I do. If you love it, I’d love for you to Pin it to your Pinterest boards!
You will start with simple air dry clay. This is the exact one I used.
Cut around the leaf.
Gently peel away the extra clay {you can reuse for another leaf!}
On a piece of foil to prevent sticking, shape your leaf into a “bowl” or “trivet” shape using items you find around your house.
You want the leaf to have a natural shape to it. Think about what a leaf looks like when it is drying out. The edges tend to curl up and they don’t lay flat.
I used a combination of items from my kitchen to achieve this look. This is where you can get really creative.
Let dry overnight or longer. Mine took longer, it just depends on the thickness of your clay. Do not rush this part. Let it dry completely.
Then you can paint any color you’d like!
Spray paint is the easiest way to paint these.
Do not forget to spray the backside too.
I sprayed mine white which just brightened them up a bit.
These are great jewelry dishes, but also great decor pieces on their own.
