my jaw hit the floor. Can you believe this kitchen
used to be this kitchen? Check out the beaded board ceiling and the subway tile back splash! I heart that lighting and the attention to detail. Even her store bought pasta looks good sitting on the counter!
Here is the adjoining breakfast area.
I suppose it does help that the owner of this home was the
assistant decorating editor at cottage living magazine.
I read this article when it was first published and it was the inspiration for my kitchen {which is almost finished} I so wanted the wood counter top on the opposite wall from the sink but we weren't sure how it would stand up to abuse! But I do have the open shelving in white and the subway tile.
Thanks for sharing!

I love subway tile! That is a great kitchen. I'm going to read the article. We've been remodeling our kitchen for several months and it is almost done! I love to cook and bake…can't wait to get back into the swing of it.

The old kitchen is way to similar to my kitchen now. I have plans to paint the cabinets this fall. I loved that the lowers are a different color and love the shape of the subway tile, but I think I want a little more color there. I also love penny round tile, do you look at Sara's house on HGTV, she does amazing rooms!

I love seeing other kitchens with white on top and gray on bottom. We did that to ours this year and added floors, but haven't finished the backspash and counter tops yet. What we did do made a world of difference. I love these photos, so much inspiration!

The part of this kitchen redo that I liked the best was that they moved the upper cabinets up to the ceiling and added an open shelf underneath. What a great idea! I'm saving that idea for our next house purchase just in case the cabinets don't go all the way to the ceiling. Cindy

That is a good one! I especially like the beadboard ceiling too, as that is what I am wanting to do to our kitchen ceiling soon. May do it faux with beadboard wallpaper.

That's so cool! I featured that kitchen/diner as one of my inspiration photos for our kitchen room and dining room a while ago on my blog, Modern Country Style. I found the picture online but had no idea where it came from. And now I do!!

Sorry to bombard you with comments! When I clicked throuhg to Urban Grace, she didn't know what colour the dining room walls were. You might like to know that they are Farrow and Ball's Pigeon. I remeber reading it when I first saw the photo ages ago.
Sometimes you get a colour distortion oncomputers but I'd say that's how the colour looks in 'real life' too!
I've got a thing about wanting to know different paint colours in pictures I see and thought you might too!
