Our Christmas Home Tour 2024

Welcome to our Christmas Home Tour 2024! I am so excited to be participating in Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk this year, {you can start the tour there if you’d like!} and I can’t wait to share how we’ve transformed our home for the holidays. This year, we’ve gone for a rustic yet modern vibe, combining cozy, farmhouse-inspired touches with clean, contemporary elements. I’ve also kept the look budget-friendly and easy to replicate, so you can create the same warm, festive atmosphere in your own home. Whether you’re decking out your living room, kitchen, dining room, or basement, I hope this tour sparks some holiday inspiration!
Welcome if you’re joining from Cuckoo 4 Design! I absolutely adore all the charming Christmas touches throughout Julia’s home.
Our Christmas Home Tour 2024: Living Room Tour
Our living room is the heart of our home during the holidays. It’s where we gather with family, share laughs, and create lasting memories. This year, we focused on creating a warm, inviting space with lots of texture and subtle pops of color.
We started with a cozy neutral color palette—think soft whites, grays, and natural wood tones. A large, rustic tree takes center stage in the corner, adorned with simple yet elegant ornaments. I’ve mixed in plenty of twinkling fairy lights for that magical holiday glow. To add a touch of modernity, I’ve used neutral ornaments alongside natural wood beads and greenery. I love how this blend creates a perfect balance between rustic charm and modern simplicity.
Our fireplace mantel is another focal point of the living room, and it’s decorated with a mix of neutral stockings. On the couch, I’ve layered cozy throws and wool and alpaca pillows that add texture and warmth.

Basement: Holiday Comfort and Joy
Next, let’s take a tour of our basement, which has become a fun and festive space for holiday relaxing and wrapping gifts. While the basement is typically more utilitarian, I’ve given it a festive makeover that’s both cheerful and inviting.
The decor here continues with a rustic theme, but with a more playful twist. I’ve added a lot of greenery and magnolia branches and lots of texture to cozy up the space. I added my DIY gingerbread houses to the cabinet and it is such a fun look!
For the basement seating area, I’ve incorporated neutral-toned pillows and throws, with the color being the camel colored pillows. A couple of festive Christmas books and puzzles complete the look.
This room recently got a very big makeover! In case you missed it, you’ll definitely want to see it. Click right here to take you there!

Our Christmas Home Tour 2024: Kitchen Christmas Inspiration
Our kitchen is where the magic happens, from baking holiday treats to preparing meals for family and friends. This year, I’ve kept the kitchen decor simple but festive, with a focus on modern touches mixed with rustic charm.
I’ve added fresh greenery garlands along the top of my window, bringing a natural touch to the space. A few wooden cutting boards and vintage-inspired ceramic mugs help to tie in the rustic elements. A gold metal candleholder  on the kitchen island holds a few battery operated flickering candles that are so pretty at night.  These little details help make the space feel both inviting and relaxed.
My DIY faux gingerbread cookies look cute on a white pedestal on the counter. You can find the directions for those here.Â

Our Christmas Home Tour 2024: Dining Room Decor
The dining room is always the centerpiece of our holiday gatherings, and this year, I’ve created a space that’s both beautiful and practical for hosting guests. We’ve stuck with the rustic-modern theme throughout, with a focus on natural materials and a neutral color palette.
The dining table is set with simple white dishes and a mix of greenery and candles. For the centerpiece, I filled my favorite vase with faux branches and twinkle branches. Â The natural texture of the centerpiece with the sleek white dinnerware creates the perfect balance of rustic and modern style.
I sprinkled in bits of Christmas decor throughout the space, keeping it minimal as to not feel overwhelming.

Melaine, your home always has so many stunning and unique pieces. I don’t even know what my favorite part is because it’s all so pretty. And that view out of your dining window!!! Happy Holidays!
Melaine, I think my favorite photo is you standing on the kitchen counter hanging the garland! All of your home is beautiful and I agree with Julia – your dining room window is amazing, along with the vaulted wood ceiling. Love the architecture of your house and the way you have it decorated.
Everything is so beautiful, a perfect blend of modern and rustic! You have outdone yourself, gorgeous!
